Raymond Connors will head to Te Rapa with two runners in jumps races on Saturday, but last year’s Great Northern Steeplechase winner Wise Men Say is not among them.

The Yamanin Vital gelding resumed with a maiden hurdle win at Wanganui two weeks ago and is being taken along quietly in the early stages of the new jumping season.

“We’ll save him for the next Waikato meeting during Queen’s Birthday weekend, either the hurdle or the McGregor Grant,” Connors told www.theinformant.co.nz.

Connors will be represented by last-start winner Max in Saturday’s Signature Homes Waikato Steeplechase and the promising Mesmerize in the maiden hurdle.
