After one more run at Riccarton on Saturday, Winter Cup winner Platinum Command will be served by Ocean Park.
Winter Cup winner Platinum Command will make her final career start in Saturday’s $40,000 Winter Classic at Riccarton.
After two Group Three placings and another four fourths at black-type level, the Red Giant mare broke through for her first stakes win with a 13-to-one upset in Saturday’s Gr. 3 Winter Cup.
Apprentice jockey Ryan Elliot was in the saddle for the time-honoured $100,000 feature and will retain the mount when Platinum Command steps up from 1600 to 1800 metres for Saturday’s career finale.
“It was great to see her get that Group Three win on Saturday, she really deserved it,” trainer Lisa Latta told www.theinformant.co.nz this afternoon.
“She’s come through it really well and she’s looking good. She’ll back up on Saturday in the Winter Classic, and that will be her last race.
“After that, she’ll head to Waikato Stud to visit Ocean Park.”
