Blair Orange drove four winners on Saturday at Invercargill and has some good drives at Timaru today as he tries to maintain his flying start to the national drivers premiership.

Orange, who has never won the national title, drove Anna Kate to win at Addington on Friday night, then reeled off four on Saturday with Highview Justice, Eye Candy, Doitson and Jayedgar to move to 32 for the season.

Main rival Dexter Dunn has also hit form after a late start to the season and sits on 14 wins as he tries to make it 11 straight premierships.

Orange’s best winning chances at Timaru today include in-form maiden Mongolian Mars (race five, $2.60 fixed odds), where they take on Dunn and Maahes ($2.90), who flew home on debut at Oamaru for fourth.

Sheza Trendy Monarch ($3.70) is another strong chance in the trot in race six for Orange and is down in class, while Christian Cullen three-year-old debutant Vandanta has won three straight workouts or trials for trainer Nigel McGrath and at $1.80 has been punted to win race eight.

Orange also drives Martin John ($9.50) in race nine, who is dropping down in class and could upset.

Dunn’s drive Linton Shard ($4) is favoured fresh-up from the three draw in race nine for trainer Cran Dalgety.

He also prepares Donegal Davy Boyd (race two $1.85), who could give Dunn a winning start to the day, with Orange driving Hot Off The Press ($7) from the ace for trainers Ken and Tony Barron.
