It appears to be all systems go with second favourite Heaven Rocks for Tuesday’s New Zealand Trotting Cup.
After a brief scare on Friday, when he worked lethargically and blood tests showed the early stages of a virus, it has been all good news since for connections and punters.
On Saturday morning, tests ruled out a virus, and then this morning (Sunday) the horse has greatly-impressed co-trainer/driver Natalie Rasmussen.
“Heaven Rocks has worked well this morning and Natalie Rasmussen was happy with him,” said head harness steward Nick Ydgren, who has been closely monitoring the situation for the Racing Integrity Unit.
Heaven Rocks now seems likely to take his place as the clear second favourite in Tuesday’s feature, though his $7.50 quote is still a long way short of stablemate Lazarus’ $1.25 price with bookmakers.
