The Poormanzabeel (centre) is one of several impressive recent winners with a confirmed slot for the $101,000 Taranaki Challenge.

Less than three weeks out from the inaugural $101,000 Platinum Homes Taranaki Challenge at Pukekura Raceway, negotiations are coming together between slot holders and the connections of prospective participants.

Slot holders and the names of the horses confirmed to this point are: Rick Hill Racing – Albaron; Fortuna Syndications – Beltoy; Pee Gee Bloodstock – Back In A Flash: Team Rogerson – Benaud; Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan – Ole Ole; Kamada Park – The Poormanzabeel; Platinum Homes Consortium – Cetus.

Horses whose connections are keen to participate but do not currently have a secure slot include Heliberry, Codecracker, Kaliper, Next Up and Play The Field.

“We are delighted with the promotion and lead-up to the race and can’t wait for the first running on the 25 of August,” commented Taranaki Thoroughbred Racing CEO Carey Hobbs.

“We also intend to make an announcement of a second such race, likely to be held in February, in the near future.”
