Shafiq Rusof and Jasmine Fawcett each picked up a careless riding suspension during yesterday’s Ruakaka meeting.
Rusof admitted a charge of careless riding on Morweka in race six, having allowed his mount to shift out at around the 75-metre mark when not sufficiently clear of Marzemino. That runner was badly checked, with rider Tayla Wenn nearly dislodged.
Rusof was suspended for 10 riding days, starting immediately and running up to and including racing on July 22.
Fawcett was suspended for careless riding in the final race on the card, which she won on Major Tom. She allowed her mount to shift in passing the 1700-metre mark, checking Lucky Sweep.
Fawcett’s seven-day suspension begins at the conclusion of racing next Saturday and ends on July 22.
