It's been a long time between drinks for veteran galloper Thorn Pass, but his final gallop at Awapuni this morning was first class. Fast work took place on the No 1 grass (dead-slow) and on the plough (good). Thorn Pass used the No 1 grass and had stablemate Lincoln Hills for a partner over 800m in 47.7, the last 600m in 36.0. He travels north to Te Rapa on Saturday (r65 2100m) and his 60kg impost drops to 56kg with high-flying New Plymouth apprentice Wiremu Pinn picking up the ride. …
