The final group of international contenders for spring carnival features are on their way to Melbourne.

The group of eight horses, all nominated for the Melbourne Cup, departed London on Friday morning (AEDT) and are scheduled to arrive in Victoria tomorrow to begin two weeks of post-arrival quarantine at Werribee.

Among the horses are Irish Derby winner Latrobe, who will attempt to give Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien back-to-back Melbourne Cup wins after his success with Rekindling a year ago. Latrobe races in the colours of six-time Melbourne Cup-winning owner Lloyd Williams and is on the second line of Melbourne Cup betting at $13.

Magic Circle, also at $13 for the Melbourne Cup, is another of the horses set to arrive tomorrow.

Marmelo and Nakeeta are both making their second trip to Melbourne, while the John Gosden-trained Muntahaa and the Aidan O’Brien-trained trio of Rostropovich, Idaho and The Pentagon are also on the flight.

Rostropovich also holds a nomination for the Cox Plate on October 27, the day the final group are scheduled to finish their quarantine at Werribee.
