Sources have confirmed to The Informant that at least four harness stables in Canterbury are currently in lockdown after being swooped on by the Police.
An eyewitness said at least one trainer was taken away by Police, along with his computer.
Subsequent information suggests another Canterbury trainer, with a high profile, has also been arrested.
Harness Racing New Zealand Chief Executive Edward Renell confirmed he was aware a police operation was underway but had no further details.
Police have confirmed this morning's undertakings to The Informant.
"Police are today executing a number of search warrants in Christchurch, Invercargill and Manawatu.
"The warrants are part of an ongoing investigation.
"Further information will be released as it becomes available."
