Classy trotter Bordeaux’s horror spring campaign has ended.

The free-striding chestnut has been sent to the spelling paddock and withdrawn from the Dominion by trainer Philip Iggo.

The horse has been dogged by nagging soreness and minor health issues in recent weeks.

Those problems have limited Bordeaux to just two spring starts and he has galloped in both.

Iggo has decided to press the reset button on Bordeaux’s campaign and he will be out of all spring racing and will not contest races at Auckland over Christmas and New Year.

“We are just not happy with the way he is trotting.

“There is only one thing to do and that is give him a break and reassess.”

Bordeaux sat inside the top 15 qualifying spots and his withdrawal means Sunny Ruby moves in to the field.

That shift could be temporary as the results from the New Zealand Trotting Free-For-All on Tuesday could send lower ranked contenders ahead of her.
