‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: A Big Marvel With Small Responsibilities?

The Marvel and Disney-backed Spider-Man trilogy ends with a fireworks display of special effects and multiple acclaim

This column is without major spoilers.

For the first time in the cinema, Spider Man, the “friendly neighborhood hero”, is unconvincing and can no longer separate his normal life from his heavy responsibilities as a superhero. When the sorcerer asks Doctor Strange for help (Benedict Cumberbatch, flawless) the stakes become more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it really means to be Spider-Man…

To close this new trilogy (certainly not the last), Sony and Marvel Cinematic Universe Make universes collide and dig into time and ages. No longer a surprise, as it has appeared in many trailers and TV commercials, Spider-Man must face his ancestral enemies, from the two previous movie series; The first, dating back to the early 2000s, was conducted by Sam RaimiHe is represented by Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), green sprite (Willem Dafoe) and the hypnotic man; II, Mark Webb, by Lizard and Electro (Jamie Foxx…five enemies have landed despite their existence in a post-Thanos world, where the Avengers (almost) no longer exist (game over, 2019) and where Spider-Man is revealed with a final major hit signed Mysterio (away from home, 2019). You’ll understand that this Spider-Man trilogy is not intended for an uneducated audience in the MCU – to understand the issues and characters, you must have seen the previous films, even the ones in which he appears stealthily. Here we have the comics and Marvel adaptation genius: We’ve managed to build a very long movie franchise, in which every feature film is an episode, while retaining, sometimes with difficulty and a bit of consistency, a director streak.

What was said, Spider-Man: There is no room for home It is arguably the most anticipated product from the MCU and at the same time, the most terrifying one. As evidenced by the astronomical figures for its first week of cinema exploitation: The biggest result since the beginning of the epidemic. Wow but for what reasons? On the other hand, the excitement of (re)seeing cult characters from Spidey’s catalog, brought together like a mixture of references and winks, always with a sense of humor that obviously won’t please everyone. On the other hand, the fruits of many speculations and rumors about the fictional leading trio: the three Spider-Men, reunited in the same movie.

There is no place for home Collecting nearly twenty years of cinematic adventures, he takes the path of the multiverse, the main theme of Phase 4 of the MCU. The two-and-a-half-hour length of the film is irregularly punctuated by amazing and slightly lopsided moments where Marvel supposes to use magic as a tool to mess around and do just about everything. To bring about this fascinating meeting of iconic personalities, and the properties of the various studios (the legal and financial stake behind this is dizzying), the Sony/Disney Association passes their picks as taking risks when it actually comes to easy, ingeniously designed solutions. Spider-Man: There is no room for home It is an undeniable entertainment, with crazy energy, but the tasteless look accompanies the fan-service scenario only. By itself where is the damage? After the first cult trilogy and two films The Amazing Spider-Man Unconvincing, the MCU wants to spoil the fans and try a new style by somehow inventing a new one Origin story Spider Man. Which is exciting: The Avengers was just the beginning, and now it has its own story to rewrite.

Spider-Man: There is no room for home, directed by John Watts, with Tom Holland, Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch, to be shown in theaters since December 15, 2021. Find all shows at here.
